About

About SLC Edu Funding and our data

Who runs SLC Edu Funding, where our Salt Lake and Tooele school and funding data come from, and what we do not do.

SLC Edu Funding is an independent guide for families in Salt Lake and Tooele counties who want a Catholic, Christian, independent, microschool, homeschool or special-needs education and need to work out how to pay for it. We explain the Utah Fits All Scholarship, the two Carson Smith scholarships and the smaller sources around them, using the agencies' and program manager's own documents.

We are not a school, a government agency or a scholarship organization, and we do not decide awards. When a fact is uncertain, such as the timing of the Utah Supreme Court's decision or the 2026-27 dollar value of the Carson Smith Opportunity Scholarship, we say so rather than guess.

Where the school data comes from

Federal survey data. Grades, enrollment, teacher counts and religious orientation come from the U.S. Department of Education's Private School Survey (2023-24, with 2021-22 for schools that missed the latest round). 69 schools in our directory appear there.

State and program lists. We matched Odyssey's approved 2026-27 Utah Fits All private-school list, USBE's Carson Smith eligible-school list and the UGRC/USBE private-schools map layer to those records (Oct 2026). The Utah Fits All list gives names only, so matches were made by name. 13 schools appear only on a list and show name and city only.

Associations. ACSI, AMS, Cognia, NAIS, NCEA and NWAIS memberships come from a third-party aggregator's directory pages. A listing is not always accreditation, and Utah Fits All does not require accreditation, so ask the school.

Profile pages. 50 schools get a full profile because the records say enough to be useful: federal enrollment and staffing, a Utah Fits All listing, or an association listing. Every school still appears in the directory tables.

Funding facts. Utah Fits All amounts and rules come from Odyssey's help center and Utah Code 53F-6-401 and 402; Carson Smith amounts from USBE's 2026-27 funding schedule; child care figures from the Department of Workforce Services.

For local context we rely on Odyssey's Utah Fits All help center, USBE's special education scholarship pages, the Diocese of Salt Lake City and the Intermountain Catholic, the Department of Workforce Services Office of Child Care, the USHE concurrent enrollment handbook, the Sutherland Institute, and reporting by KSL, KUTV and FOX 13. Neither public source reports tuition.

Some Salt Lake and Tooele schools, especially new microschools, are not in federal records yet. Tell us about one and we will check the lists and add it.

SLC Edu Funding is a project of Boss Leads. We are not a school, Odyssey, the program manager under contract with the Utah State Board of Education, a scholarship granting organization, Children First Education Fund, the Utah State Board of Education, the Diocese of Salt Lake City, or a government agency.
