Preschool & Kindergarten Programs in Greater Salt Lake City
Early-learning centers, preschools and kindergarten-only programs in the valley, many attached to a parish, a congregation or a Montessori school.
Funding note: Utah Fits All begins at age 5, so for 3- and 4-year-olds look at the state child care subsidy instead.
These are programs whose federal records or names show only preschool or kindergarten. Utah Fits All requires a child to be at least 5 on Sept 1, so a kindergartner at an approved school can qualify for the full $8,000, but a 3- or 4-year-old cannot.
For younger children, the Department of Workforce Services child care subsidy is the main source; its new table from Oct 1, 2026 admits a household of four at up to $5,100 a month. A preschooler with a disability may qualify for the Carson Smith Opportunity Scholarship at an eligible private school.
Where they are: Salt Lake City (5), Millcreek, Holladay & Cottonwood Heights (4), Murray, Midvale & Taylorsville (1), West Jordan, South Jordan, Riverton & Herriman (1), West Valley City, Kearns & Magna (1).
