Independent Schools in Greater Salt Lake City

Secular private schools in Salt Lake and Tooele counties: college-prep campuses on the east bench, small academies, therapeutic programs and early-learning centers.

All Catholic Schools Christian Schools Independent Schools Montessori Schools Special-Needs Schools Private High Schools Preschool & Kindergarten Programs

Funding note: Several of the best-known independent schools here are not on the 2026-27 Utah Fits All list, so confirm participation before you count on the award.

This hub covers secular private schools of every size, from early-learning centers to the college-prep campuses on the east bench and therapeutic and residential programs in Draper, West Jordan and Erda. The Utah Fits All picture is mixed: several of the largest independent schools, including Rowland Hall, McGillis and Waterford, did not match the 2026-27 approved list, while smaller academies such as Elizabeth Academy and Mount Vernon Academy did.

Residential-treatment programs cannot be paid with Utah Fits All under Odyssey's rules, and several independent schools appear only on the Carson Smith list. Read both list columns, and ask each school about its own need-based aid calendar.
