This group brings together Salt Lake schools whose names or federal records point to special education, learning differences, or therapeutic and hospital-based programs. One is based at Primary Children's Hospital; others, such as Reid School in Salt Lake City, appear on USBE's Carson Smith list.
Utah Fits All pays the same $8,000 at an approved school regardless of a learning disability, and it can also pay for tutoring and educational therapies. Where a school is on the Carson Smith list but not the Utah Fits All list, the Carson Smith route is the only scholarship option for tuition there.
If your child has never been evaluated, ask your public school district in writing for an evaluation first. Both Carson Smith programs depend on a current IEP or an IDEA eligibility finding, and the evaluation also helps a private school plan instruction.

Common questions
Can a Salt Lake child with dyslexia get a Carson Smith scholarship?
A Salt Lake child with dyslexia can get a Carson Smith Opportunity Scholarship if the child has a current IEP and admission to an eligible private school, or a multidisciplinary-team finding of IDEA eligibility. A diagnosis alone is not enough. Ask your district for an evaluation in writing, and keep the IEP current while the child holds the scholarship.
Does Utah Fits All pay for a learning-differences tutor in Salt Lake City?
Utah Fits All pays for tutoring from an approved Odyssey marketplace provider who delivers the service personally. A Salt Lake family can use part of a private-school or home-based award on a structured-literacy or math tutor this way. Payments to a parent for teaching are not allowed, and brokers that subcontract tutors are not approved.
What if a Salt Lake learning-differences school is only on the Carson Smith list?
If a Salt Lake learning-differences school appears on USBE's Carson Smith eligible list but not on the Utah Fits All approved list, a Carson Smith scholarship is the only state scholarship that can pay its tuition. The family can still use Utah Fits All for outside tutoring if it chooses home-based learning instead, but not both programs together.
